Description
Solidair Audio Ukishima Brass – Hifi Isolation (single foot)
The Ukishima single foot is offered to make up sets of odd numbers of feet. You need at least three feet for stability, though normally four is the best way to go. Sometimes five feet may be needed for heavier amps, for example. If you need four of the same feet go straight to here. The Ukishima single foot option allows for flexible isolation solutions. After all, there is no such thing as ordinary HiFi .
Ukishima feet are designed to bring out the best in your HiFi components, they are made from polished brass and stainless steel to accurate tolerances. They are designed to look fabulous and considerably reduce vibration in your hifi components. Place the feet under your CD, DVD, Blu-ray, amp, preamp, turntable or speakers. You will notice an immediate improvement to the sound quality. Typically, improved sound stage, more clarity, detail and solidity. Harshness is removed from high notes, which allows listening for extended periods, without fatigue. On AV equipment you will get a clearer crisper picture as well.
To position the Ukishima feet, start at the corners and move them to even the load. The working range of loads are 0-4kg, 0.5-6kg and 1-10kg per foot for 4,6,and 10 kg feet respectively. This will cover most equipment except for heavy valve amps. (The Ukishima 15 feet and Dark Star range are designed for heavier applications.) The feet are typically about 36mm in height and 31mm in diameter (wide) when in use under load. Some products are quite unbalanced, usually due to the position of heavy transformers. They may need an extra foot on one side, or two feet on one side and just one on the other. Arrange them to suit your aesthetic judgement. Make sure the feet are not fully compressed under load, or they will not be doing their job. You may want to remove the standard rubber feet or solid spikes from your hifi separates for cleaner lines and more freedom with your setup. These are the non-adjustable feet, though you can buy the adjusters to screw into them if you need to. The adjusters give you more freedom in the placing of the feet.
Ideal load guide per foot: 4kg foot – 0.5 to 3kg 6kg foot – 1 to 5kg 10kg foot – 3 to 8kg 15kg foot 5 to 12kg
Tall units with a small footprint, like floor standing speakers, may be too unstable for use with this kind of foot for support. You may want to have a look at our speaker isolation section for this application.
Take care not to drop them as the central locating rod is thin, out of necessity to reduce friction and give the best performance. It can be bent under impact. If you feel compelled to dismantle the feet, please take great care with the magnets. As well as the dangers to personal injury, the magnets are quite brittle and can break if allowed to move in an uncontrolled way. We can fix any issues, of course, but that may mean sending it/them back to us.
Used properly, these Ukishima feet will give you many years of reliable service and improved enjoyment of your beloved HiFi equipment. For high end audio this will probably be the most cost effective upgrade you can make. I would not want to be without them. Even if you upgrade or change your components, you can still use them. They are very versatile. If you don’t agree, just send them back.
A quote from Julius Hyde, designer and maker of the legendary Impulse and Aspara horn speakers: “My transistor amp now sounds like a good valve amp, less harsh, the hardness and brittleness have been taken away.”
Some Safety considerations: Powerful magnets can cause physical injury and be life threatening if swallowed. Keep away from sensitive equipment (pacemakers, credit cards, computers etc). Nickel coating can cause an allergic reaction if handled. This product is not a toy and must be kept away from children.
